The main key is to have the balls to do it in person. Do not do it over text or letters or email or over the phone.
And also be ready to explain why you are breaking up with her.
And do not use the same tired lines such as ';its not you its me';, those are old and worn out and no one believes them.
Just be honest with her, and firm.
And also don't say you can always be friends, everybody says that and it is next to impossible to do. You may be friends later on, but not for a while.

Anyway if you are breaking up with her because you just don't feel it's working then explain exactly why you're breaking up with her. Tell her you still want to be friends and you do still care about her. DO NOT do this in a text message that can drive a girl crazy, she'll think your weak spineless and mean if you do break up with her through a text!

Just kidding. Next time you are out, just say that you think you both should see other people, that the relationship isn't working out for you.
One mistake guys do though: dump and leave. Make sure you console the girl and answer all her questions for a while after the break up. No one wants to feel like a jerk.
