How to break up with a crazy girlfriend?

My friend wants to break up with his girlfriend, but doesn't want to come right out and tell her because he is afraid she will quote ';Carve his name into her forearm,'; so he has been ignoring her trying to give her hints and I told him that will never work with a girl like his.How to break up with a crazy girlfriend?

Eeeek... scary girl! I would suggest he needs to be really blunt with her - she might get a bit nasty in return or cry - but if she's obsessed with him then she needs to know that there is NO chance that they'll be getting back together.





That's not to say that he should be outright mean - but just clear with no mixed messages - so nothing like ';it's not you, it's me'; - it IS her - so he shouldn't let her think he may come around!





I think he should meet her for coffee somewhere in public if she's a bit freaky (take seperate cars so there's no awkward car ride home, plus neutral territory means she'll be unlikely to throw a fit - or kill him), and just explain to her that things are not working.





Tell her that he doesn't see a future for them, so it is better to end it now before they get in too deep. When she starts pleading ';but why, can't you give us more of a chance?'; etc etc then he needs to stay firm (but nice) and say - it wouldn't be right for me to keep going out with you if my heart isn't in it - which it isn't - and you shouldn't want me to. Better that we're both free so that when the right person comes along for each of us - we'll be single, not in a relationship that isn't going anywhere';.





Note - she is going to want to know why - so he needs to work out what the reasons are without the words ';you're a crazy stalker girl'; - perhaps something more along the lines of ';I just don't feel a connection'; or something like that!
He needs to be straight forward with her. No one these days takes a hint.
